About Tweenjo

Tweenjo was founded in 2009 to be the website for the growing number of unemployed people in the UK. We wanted to bring a positive and inspirational response to an issue that can be a challenging and difficult time in people's lives.

Our motto is "There's life between jobs". We see redundancy as opportunity: to retrain, make a career change, take time out to travel, start a new business or simply get back to work.

The web site is for anyone who has lost their job, or fears they might lose it. We provide 'day after' advice, 'day-to-day' tips and inspiration on what to do next. The site is all about people and community: we believe that the best advice and ideas come from our users who we encourage to share their thoughts on blogs and forums.

The founders

Stephen Adshead founded Tweenjo after spotting a gap in the market for advice, information and community for people who have lost their jobs. He led the business from idea to launch in just a few weeks and now manages the company. Stephen's background is in strategy and innovation consulting in the media, telecoms and technology sector. Most recently he worked for ?What If! Innovation and a leading television production company.

Alex Dean is the co-founder of Tweenjo, joining up with Stephen to help make his idea of a site for unemployed people a reality. Alex supervises the technical platform and manages advertiser relations at Tweenjo. Alex's background is in proposition development and project management in the online and mobile sectors. Most recently Alex worked at OpenX, an open-source online advertising business, and before that Alex worked with Stephen at Fathom Partners (now part of ?What If!).
